There was tension and anxiety at the
Murtala Mohammed International
Airport, MMIA, Lagos, on Wednesday
over the arrival of a Nigerian, who
contracted Ebola Virus Disease in Sierra
Leone, but was cured arrived at the
airport aboard Royal Air Maroc, after
reportedly being assisted into the
country by the Nigeria’s consular
officer, Mrs. T. Mohammed.
The victim identified as Mr. Theophilus
Onnakhinon, who reportedly flew from
Sierra Leone, has a younger brother,
Mr. Chinedu Eroka, who reportedly
escaped from the Sierra Leonean
authorities.
Although the reason for his younger
brother’s absconding is not known, a
source at the Port Health at the Lagos
Airport confirmed that Mr. Onnakhinon
was treated and cured of the Ebola
disease in Sierra Leone by the health
authorities after spending weeks in
their custody.
