Man dies after being hit by car as he walked to Old Trafford to watch Manchester United match



 Europa Way closed to traffic following the accident
A football fan has died after he was hit by a car as he made his way to the Manchester Unitedv Sunderland match at Old Trafford.
The 68-year-old man was walking towards the stadium to attend the game when there was a collision with a Nissan Qashqai, at around 11.30am yesterday.
He was taken to hospital suffering with serious head injuries, but died overnight.
The driver stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries, Greater Manchester Policesaid.
It is unknown if the victim was with anybody at the time and whether he was there to support United or Sunderland.
GMP are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have captured it on their dash-cams to get in contact.
Just 25 minutes after the incident a second serious crash happened elsewhere on Europa Way.
Three vehicles - understood to be two cars and one van - collided at the scene. Seven people were injured following the collision and were taken to hospital.
